David Fisher

Police Officer on the Street Engagement Team, Greater Manchester Police

About this speaker

David's current role is addressing begging, rough-sleeping and associated criminality and Anti-Social Behaviour. He has developed strategy that has led to new ways of partnership working and data sharing. He works heavily with statutory and non statutory partners to tackle issues in and around Manchester City Centre. They have created a multi-agency 'Street Engagement Hub' that deals with hard to reach individuals, in an attempt to remove barriers to service, through a referral system that is police/council led as enforcement agencies.

David and his team have undertaken training in Psychological Informed Environments and become more trauma aware as individuals and a team/service. Work in this area grows and he has developed a personal interest in the psychology surrounding trauma informed practice.

Previous areas of specialism include pro-active policing (with a heavyfocus on local drugs supply) and vehicle crime and asset recovery/tracking (achieving force leading results).
