A Talk by Gill Taylor , Harpal Bath and Ailish Whitehouse
About this Talk
Research by Museum of Homelessness revealed 1313 people experiencing homelessness died in 2022, an 85% increase on the numbers recorded in 2019. This session will reflect on what we can learn from mortality data and reviews to reduce losses from preventable deaths, whilst supporting one another to respond to and manage loss on a human level.
Delegates will hear about and consider:
- the findings from the second National SAR Analysis 2019-23 and insights from the Museum of Homelessness's Dying Homeless Project
- an overview of Birmingham's Homeless Persons Mortality Reviews
- guidance on positive practice in Safeguarding & Homelessness
- ways to respond to deaths on a human level, marking and managing the loss of a life
