

Harm reduction: Holistic approaches to supporting those using substances

About this Talk
This session will consider approaches of harm minimisation for those experiencing homelessness, aiming to reduce the impact of harm from drugs and alcohol. Our speakers will:
- Discuss different harm reduction approaches including safe injecting, personalised holistic support, carrying naloxone and alcohol first aid;
- Showcase the range of accommodation and services offered by Turning Tides for people at different stages of recovery considering the different needs, challenges and considerations of supporting this group;
- Consider the stigma of needle and syringe provision in pharmacies and the need for welcoming, inclusive and non-judgemental space;
- Showcase Hackney’s new hub offering peer-based harm reduction for substance use and share the benefits of offering support from peers with lived or living experience.
