Providing gender-informed outreach

A Talk by Lucy Campbell and Peter Piercy

About this Talk

Women experience rough sleeping differently to men; they are more likely to be hidden while homelessness and experience non-linear patterns of homelessness which may see them staying in unsafe accommodation one-night, rough sleeping the next. The experience of violence while homelessness is also ‘near universal’ for women. This is why, to deliver an effective outreach service for women, it is necessary to adopt a different practice that enables you to respond to the gendered needs and experiences of rough sleeping. This is known as ‘gender-informed outreach’.

In this session we will explore why gender informed outreach is necessary, what it means, and how it can be delivered practice. Join us to learn how you can respond to the needs of women in your area through delivering effective gender informed outreach.
